Congratulations for taking the steps to prioritizing your mental health! Whether you’ve had therapy before or not, it's normal to feel a little anxious about your decision to engage or re-engage in therapy. You’re probably wondering any of the following: Should I be doing this? What can I expect? What will people think? Am I making the right decision? Here again, it's completely normal to feel or think this way! I’m here to assist and empower you to do what’s best for you, so after reviewing the steps, I’d encourage you to also tiptoe on over to my Q&A page for more information! Plus, I don’t particularly believe in coincidences…so if you’re here, it's not by mistake! I’ve provided a brief synopsis of necessary steps below to get you started on your therapeutic journey!
First Step: Center Self
Take a couple of deeeeep breaths and remind yourself that you owe it to yourself to put your emotional wellbeing first! Now that we’re settled and we’ve collected ourselves, here are the steps of getting started. Once you’ve decided that you would like to start therapy, you will complete the questionnaire to request a complimentary 15 minute consultation with me. We’ll work together to get your consultation scheduled and if the vibe checks out, we will schedule your first initial intake session.
Second Step: Complimentary Consultation - Vibe Check
Consultations are brief, yet necessary because you’ll be able to discuss your presenting concerns and therapy goals. Additionally, consultations allow you and me to do a vibe check and ensure that I’m the best fit to assist you with your mental health needs. You can request a consultation by clicking Book Now and completing the preliminary questions. Once a consultation has been completed and we’ve both decided to work together, we’ll get you scheduled for your initial intake session. Prior to your first session(intake), we kindly ask that you complete your new client information packet and consent form. Empowered Healing Counseling Services is a paperless office, therefore, these forms will be sent to you via the client portal.
Third Step: Initial Intake Session - Getting to Know You
Intake sessions can feel intrusive at times, but don’t be dismayed love! Intakes offer me the opportunity to ask questions with the goal of understanding you! So share as much as you feel comfortable! After intake has been completed, you’ll have access to the Client Portal where you can request future appointments online!
